La Libertad

Sobre el concepto Libertad, planteado siempre en forma más o menos equivocada, se han cometido gravísimos errores.

Regarding the concept of Freedom, always presented in a more or less mistaken manner, very grave errors have been committed.

Ciertamente se pelea por una palabra, se sacan deducciones absurdas, se cometen atropellos de toda especie y se derrama sangre en los campos de batalla.

Certainly, one fights over a word, absurd deductions are drawn, outrages of all kinds are committed, and blood is spilled on the battlefields.

La palabra Libertad es fascinante, a todo el mundo le gusta, sin embargo, no se tiene verdadera comprensión sobre la misma, existe confusión en relación con esta palabra.

The word Freedom is fascinating, everyone likes it, nevertheless, there is no true comprehension of it, confusion exists in relation to this word.

No es posible encontrar una docena de personas que definan la palabra Libertad en la misma forma y del mismo modo.

It is not possible to find a dozen people who define the word Freedom in the same shape and in the same way.

El término Libertad, en modo alguno sería comprensible para el racionalismo subjetivo.

It is strange that enjoying all kinds of comforts in a happy home, one wants to lose what one has, to travel through those lands of the world and submerge oneself in sorrow.

Que el desventurado, el paria de la vida, el mendigo, anhele de verdad alejarse de la casucha, de la choza, con el propósito de obtener algún cambio mejor, resulta correcto; pero que el niño bien, el nene de mamá, busque escapatoria, huida, resulta incongruente y hasta absurdo; empero esto es así; la palabra Libertad, fascina, hechiza, aunque nadie sepa definirla en forma precisa.

That the unfortunate, the pariah of life, the beggar, truly yearns to get away from the hovel, from the hut, with the purpose of obtaining some better change, is correct; but that the good boy, mama's boy, seeks a way out, flight, is incongruous and even absurd; however, this is so; the word Freedom fascinates, bewitches, although no one knows how to define it in a precise manner.

En tanto la conciencia, la esencia, lo más digno y decente que tenemos en nuestro interior, continúe embotellada en el sí mismo, en el mí mismo, en el yo mismo, en mis apetencias y temores, en mis deseos y pasiones, en mis preocupaciones y violencias, en mis defectos psicológicos; se estará en formal prisión.

As long as the consciousness, the essence, the most worthy and decent thing we have within us, continues bottled up in the self, in myself, in the I itself, in my appetites and fears, in my desires and passions, in my worries and violence, in my psychological defects; one will be in formal prison.

El sentido de Libertad sólo puede ser comprendido íntegramente cuando han sido aniquilados los grilletes de nuestra propia cárcel psicológica.

La conciencia libre, desprovista de yo, en ausencia absoluta del mí mismo, sin deseos, sin pasiones, sin apetencias ni temores, experimenta en forma directa la verdadera Libertad.

The free consciousness, devoid of I, in the absolute absence of myself, without desires, without passions, without appetites or fears, experiences true Freedom in a direct way.

Cualquier concepto sobre Libertad no es Libertad. Las opiniones que nos formemos sobre la Libertad distan mucho de ser la Realidad. Las ideas que nos forjemos sobre el tema Libertad, nada tienen que ver con la auténtica Libertad.

Any concept about Freedom is not Freedom. The opinions we form about Freedom are far from being the Reality. The ideas we forge about the subject of Freedom, have nothing to do with authentic Freedom.

La Libertad es algo que tenemos que experimentar en forma directa, y esto sólo es posible muriendo psicológicamente, disolviendo el yo, acabando para siempre con el mí mismo.

Freedom is something that we have to experience in a direct way, and this is only possible by dying psychologically, dissolving the I, finishing forever with the myself.

De nada serviría continuar soñando con la Libertad, si de todas maneras proseguimos como esclavos.

It would be of no use to continue dreaming of Freedom, if anyway we continue as slaves.

Más vale vernos a sí mismos tal cual somos, observar cuidadosamente todos estos grilletes de la esclavitud que nos mantienen en formal prisión.

It is better to see ourselves just as we are, to observe carefully all these shackles of slavery that keep us in formal prison.

Auto-conociéndonos, viendo lo que somos interiormente, descubriremos la puerta de la auténtica Libertad.

By self-knowing ourselves, seeing what we are internally, we will discover the door of authentic Freedom.
