La Felicidad

Esa de la felicidad está en chino -como se dice por ahí- lo más grave es que la gente lo sabe pero en medio de tantas amarguras, parece que no pierden las esperanzas de lograr la dicha algún día, sin saber cómo ni de qué manera.

That thing about happiness is in Chinese - as the saying goes - the most serious thing is that people know it, but amidst so many bitternesses, it seems they do not lose hope of achieving joy someday, without knowing how or in what way.

¡Pobres gentes! ¡Cuánto sufren! Y, sin embargo, quieren vivir, temen perder la vida.

"Pachanga", "Parranda", borrachera, orgía; es placer bestial, mas no es felicidad. Sin embargo, hay fiestecitas sanas sin borracheras, sin bestialidades, sin alcohol, etc., pero eso tampoco es felicidad. ¿Eres persona amable? ¿Cómo te sientes cuando danzas? ¿Estás enamorado? ¿Amas de verdad? ¿Qué tal te sientes danzando con el ser que adoras? Permitid que me vuelva un poco cruel en estos momentos al deciros que esto tampoco es felicidad.

"Party", "Spree", drunkenness, orgy; it is bestial pleasure, but it is not happiness. If one manages to put an end to the "Myself", to "My Drunkenness", to "My Vices", to "My Affections", which cause me so much pain in the heart, to my worries that destroy my brains and make me sick, etc., etc., it is clear that then comes that which is not of time, that which is beyond the body, the affections and the mind, that which truly is unknown to the understanding and which is called: HAPPINESS!

Incuestionablemente, mientras la conciencia continúe embotellada, embutida entre el "MI MISMO", entre el "YO MISMO", de ninguna manera podrá conocer la legítima felicidad.

Unquestionably, while the consciousness continues bottled up, stuffed between the "MYSELF", between the "I MYSELF", in no way will it be able to know legitimate happiness.

La felicidad tiene un sabor que el "YO MISMO", el "MI MISMO", nunca jamás ha conocido.

Happiness has a flavour that the "I MYSELF", the "MYSELF", has never ever known.
