En esos momentos insospechados, críticos, afloran siempre y cuando menos lo pensemos, los Yoes más secretos; si estamos alertas incuestionablemente nos descubrimos.

In those unsuspected, critical moments, the most secret I's always emerge, and when we least think it; if we are alert we unquestionably discover ourselves.

Las épocas más tranquilas de la vida, son precisamente las menos favorables para el trabajo sobre si mismo.

The quietest periods of life are precisely the least favourable for the work upon oneself.

Existen momentos de la vida demasiado complicados en que uno tiene marcada tendencia a identificarse fácilmente con los sucesos y a olvidarse completamente de si mismos; en esos instantes hace uno tonterías que a nada conducen; si se estuviese alerta, si en esos mismos momentos en vez de perder la cabeza, se acordase de si mismo, descubriría con asombro ciertos Yoes de los cuales jamás tuvo ni la más mínima sospecha de su posible existencia.

There are moments in life that are too complicated, in which one has a marked tendency to easily identify with events and to completely forget oneself; in those instants one does foolish things that lead nowhere; if one were alert, if in those very moments, instead of losing one's head, one remembered oneself, one would discover with astonishment certain I's of which one never had even the slightest suspicion of their possible existence.

El sentido de la auto-observación intima, se encuentra atrofiado en todo ser humano; trabajando seriamente, auto-observándose de momento en momento; tal sentido se desarrollará en forma progresiva.

The sense of intimate self-observation is atrophied in every human being; by working seriously, self-observing from moment to moment, such a sense will develop progressively.

A medida que el sentido de auto-observación prosiga su desarrollo mediante el uso continuo, nos iremos haciendo cada vez mas capaces de percibir en forma directa aquellos Yoes sobre los cuales jamás tuvimos dato alguno relacionado con su existencia.

As the sense of self-observation continues its development through continuous use, we will become increasingly capable of perceiving in a direct way those I's about which we never had any data related to their existence.

Ante el sentido de auto-observación intima cada uno de los Yoes que en nuestro interior habitamos, asumen realmente esta o aquella figura secretamente afín con el defecto personificado por la misma.. Indubitablemente la imagen de cada uno de estos Yoes tiene cierto sabor psicológico inconfundible mediante el cual aprehendemos, capturamos, atrapamos, instintivamente su naturaleza íntima, y el defecto que le caracteriza.

Before the sense of intimate self-observation, each of the I's that we inhabit within us really assumes this or that figure secretly akin to the defect personified by it. Indubitably, the image of each of these I's has a certain unmistakable psychological flavour by which we instinctively apprehend, capture, catch its intimate nature, and the defect that characterises it.

What would you think about the charitable attitude of a man who, instead of bringing food home, distributed the money among beggars of vice? What would be your opinion of the helpful man who at a given moment lent a dagger to a murderer?

A medida que el sentido de la auto-observación intima se desarrolla en nosotros mediante el uso continuo, podremos ir viendo todos esos Yoes que sirven de fundamento básico a nuestro temperamento individual, ya sea este último, sanguíneo o nervioso, flemático o bilioso.

As the sense of intimate self-observation develops in us through continuous use, we will be able to gradually see all those I's that serve as a basic foundation to our individual temperament, whether the latter be sanguine or nervous, phlegmatic or bilious.

To see such creations, to observe those monstrosities of hell within which our very conscience is bottled up, becomes possible with the ever-progressive development of the sense of intimate self-observation.

¿Habéis pensado tú alguna vez en la vida sobre lo que más os agrada o desagrada? ¿Tú, habéis reflexionado sobre los resortes secretos de la acción? ¿Por qué queréis tener una bella casa? ¿Por qué deseáis tener un coche último modelo? ¿Por qué queréis estar siempre a la última moda? ¿Por qué codiciáis no ser codicioso? ¿Qué es lo que más te ofendió en un momento dado? ¿Qué es lo que más os halagó ayer? ¿Por qué os sentisteis superior a fulano o a fulana de tal, en determinado instante? ¿A qué hora te sentisteis superior a alguien? ¿Por qué te engreísteis al relatar tus triunfos? ¿No pudisteis callar cuando murmuraban de otra persona conocida? ¿Recibisteis la copa de licor por cortesía? ¿Aceptaste fumar tal vez no teniendo el vicio, posiblemente por el concepto de educación o de hombría? ¿Estáis tú seguro de haber sido sincero en aquella conversación? ¿Y cuando te Justificas a ti mismo, y cuando te alabas, y cuando cuentas tus triunfos y los relatas repitiendo lo que antes dijiste a los demás, comprendiste que eras vanidoso?

Have you ever thought in life about what pleases or displeases you most? Have you reflected on the secret springs of action? Why do you want to have a beautiful house? Why do you desire to have a latest model car? Why do you want to always be in the latest fashion? Why do you covet not to be covetous? What offended you most at a given moment? What flattered you most yesterday? Why did you feel superior to so-and-so at a certain instant? At what time did you feel superior to someone? Why did you become conceited when relating your triumphs? Could you not remain silent when they were murmuring about another known person? Did you receive the glass of liquor out of courtesy? Did you accept smoking perhaps not having the vice, possibly because of the concept of education or manliness? Are you sure you were sincere in that conversation? And when you justify yourself, and when you praise yourself, and when you tell of your triumphs and relate them repeating what you previously said to others, did you understand that you were vain?

El sentido de la auto-observación íntima, además de permitirte ver claramente al Yo que estáis disolviendo, te permitirá también ver los resultados patéticos y definidos de tu trabajo interior.

The sense of intimate self-observation, besides allowing you to see clearly the I that you are dissolving, will also allow you to see the pathetic and definite results of your inner work.

En principio estas creaciones del infierno, estas aberraciones psíquicas que desgraciadamente te caracterizan, son más feas y monstruosas que las bestias más horrendas que existen en el fondo de los mares o en las selvas más profundas de la tierra; conforme avancéis en vuestro trabajo podéis evidenciar mediante el sentido de auto-observación interior el hecho sobresaliente de que aquellas abominaciones van perdiendo volumen, se van empequeñeciendo...

In principle these creations of hell, these psychic aberrations that unfortunately characterise you, are uglier and more monstrous than the most horrendous beasts that exist at the bottom of the seas or in the deepest jungles of the earth; as you advance in your work you can evidence, through the sense of inner self-observation, the outstanding fact that those abominations are losing volume, they are becoming smaller...

Resulta interesante saber que tales bestialidades conforme decrecen en tamaño, conforme pierden volumen y se empequeñecen, ganan en belleza, asumen lentamente la figura infantil; por último se desintegran, se convierten en polvareda cósmica, entonces la Esencia enfrascada, se libera, se emancipa, despierta.

It is interesting to know that such bestialities, as they decrease in size, as they lose volume and become smaller, they gain in beauty, they slowly assume the infantile figure; finally they disintegrate, they turn into cosmic dust, then the bottled-up Essence is liberated, emancipated, awakened.

Bookish erudition, pseudo-sapience, complete information on the sacred scriptures, whether these be from the East or the West, from the North or the South, pseudo-occultism, pseudo-esotericism, the absolute certainty of being well documented, intransigent sectarianism with full conviction, etc., is of no use because in reality there only exists in the depth that which we ignore, creations of hell, curses, monstrosities that hide behind the pretty face, behind the venerable countenance, under the most holy garment of the sacred leader, etc.

However majestic we may appear within our temples, or within our halls of light and harmony, however serene and sweet our fellow men may see us, however reverend and humble we may seem, at the bottom of our psyche all the abominations of hell and all the monstrosities of wars continue to exist.
